Embracing my Sensitivity (2020)

Pearl A. Sequeira

I make art to grow into my authenticity, to create agency in my life and free myself of limiting beliefs imposed intentionally by systems in our societies. I make art so that I, a woman of colour and immigrant, can thrive as I step into my light. My process is organic and dynamic, and I learn about creativity and life from conversations with diverse people, travelling to different neighbourhoods locally and globally, spending time in nature and engaging with many forms of art. Invariably, I end up entering unknown spaces, and I trust myself to find my way through the end. I hope my paintings take you on a journey to your soul, to heal and move you closer to your promised land of unconditional love. I am grateful for my ability to unlearn false narratives, my audacity to shatter ceilings, and for the journey to become an emerging artist.
