Stronger Together

Rajsree Mandal

During the pandemic, we've all come across a set of new challenges in ways we would've never imagined. I wanted to create a digital artwork that represented the struggles as well as a feeling of hope and togetherness that we’ve faced since lockdown started. The map in the background connects us all from across the world since the pandemic affected everyone in some way. The moment I decided to incorporate text and symbols, the project became much more real and meaningful to me. Friends of mine, living in different parts of the world, were kind enough to send me phrases, texts, and/or symbols of what they have seen in their home countries throughout the pandemic. I tried to incorporate everything I could in a diversified manner to replicate what else the whole world was seeing. I would like to give a special thanks to all of my friends; because of them, this project truly became alive.

I would also like to mention that there is a translations document with the artwork as well; it contains all of the translations of any phrases and/or symbols that are not in English. I've written the name of the country where it was seen, as well as the language that the text was in. There are also QR codes in the artwork, which when scanned, the text will appear. If you tap and hold onto the text, the whole text can be seen.
