whenthecitysleeps' music is known for putting a twist on lo-fi pop. It takes the gentle melodies people are familiar with and combines them with synths and rhythms. Inspired by big cities and late nights, her music is designed to fit any atmosphere through focusing on the listeners' interpretation and giving them a canvas to tell their own story. Her sound is designed in layers of frequencies. The range of low and high ends working together creates a dynamic space and allows people to experience music in a whole new way.

A major component of whenthecitysleeps' work is bridging the unsaid gap between visual arts and music. She incorporates her love of photography and design to bring visuals into the sound space. Her music and album art have been features in numerous artistic publications and events, such as magazines, galleries and online listening parties.

For Isabella Fong, the inspiration to begin the project "whenthecitysleeps" came from her travels in New York City. The diversity of arts, people and perspectives is a unique aspect she channels through her sound. As her audience continues to grow, she hopes to showcase her innovative definition of lo-fi pop. whenthecitysleeps is anything but traditional, constantly challenging who and what music can be.
